Pemberville, Ohio:
Otterbein SeniorLife has pledged a total of $20.2 million into bettering healthcare for our community’s seniors. Skilled nursing, assisted living, and rehabilitation services are all getting an upgrade at the Otterbein Pemberville community.
“If you’ve driven by Otterbein lately, you’re likely to notice some big changes,” said Executive Director Jessica Kirkendall. “With the ever-changing senior living industry, we’re working hard to listen and act on the area demand for private recovery suites, a larger therapy gym, and ground-level access to Mercy Health’s John Pierce, M.D.”
The Oakwood, Otterbein’s new assisted living community, is also answering the need for residents.
“Across the country, the need for assisted living is increasing rapidly, and we’re thrilled to answer area demands with The Oakwood,” said Kaelyn Flower, director of The Oakwood and assistant administrator at Otterbein Pemberville. “With dynamic designs and a life enrichment focus for seniors, The Oakwood has a warm atmosphere with all private accommodations and state-of-the-art amenities, including individualized dining experiences that meet the needs of every palate.”
The Oakwood at Otterbein Pemberville
The Oakwood Assisted Living at Otterbein Pemberville opened its doors in November 2021 and doubled the previous capacity in assisted living suites to 64 apartments, including models ranging from studios to alcoves to one-bedroom suite options. All are private, with their own bathrooms and kitchenettes.
The two-story building also includes a variety of centralized common spaces on each floor, complete with family-style dining, an oversized kitchen to provide meals or snacks whenever a resident wishes, lounges and family visitation areas, and a gorgeous open design. The Oakwood provides a cutting-edge design environment that enables residents to enjoy a comfortable lifestyle – close to home while providing the care they need.
Skilled Nursing and Rehab Care at Otterbein Pemberville
Otterbein Pemberville also recently celebrated the opening of the new Cove and Crest Nursing Neighborhoods. The Cove and Crest Nursing Neighborhoods house 26 private suites complete with spacious, private bathrooms and barrier-free showers.
The third of the three renovation projects is well underway, which will change the layout and feel of rehab at Otterbein. The project will add an easily accessible nursing neighborhood entrance near Pemberville Road as well as a new, larger therapy gym.
“As the needs of our community and the retirement industry change, Otterbein is working hard to react quickly to meet the demand,” said Kirkendall. “We’ve been blessed to have our doors open for 42 years, and offering the care and compassion we’re known for in a new environment is the best gift we feel we can give to the community.”
