History of Dilgard Open

The Dilgard Open Golf Tournament was created by Rev. Howard Washburn in honor of former CEO Dr. Charles K. Dilgard, to recognize his 28 years of service to Otterbein upon his retirement. This annual Golf Tournament benefits the Otterbein Hospice Every Moment Matters program in memory of Sarah Dilgard.

At Otterbein…

Is a hospice program designed to help make hopes, wishes, and dreams a reality. We believe that Every Moment of our lives Matter, and we want to be certain that our patients and their families and friends are able to spend every moment together, free of the stress that accompanies being a caregiver. Serving approximately 125 patients per day across more than 18 counties in Ohio, Every Moment Matters is the Otterbein Hospice commitment to patients and family members to share in every moment of their hospice journey based on, but not limited to, these basic principles:

Being home in familiar surroundings matters

– assisting with home and safety accommodations

Choices Matter

– going the extra mile to provide special wishes and requests

Celebrations Matter

– birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and holidays

Moments with family and friends matter

– providing private rooms for patients and accommodations for visiting loved ones, care and grief support, assistance with financial expenses
