Comfort, Dignity, and Peace of Mind

Otterbein Hospice, Universal Hospice, & Ashanti Hospice

Otterbein SeniorLife Hospice is a compassionate care philosophy designed for individuals facing life-limiting illnesses or conditions, along with their families and caregivers. Our interdisciplinary hospice care team, which includes a nurse, chaplain, and social worker, provides support and services that prioritize quality of life, peace, and comfort.

In collaboration with your family, we create a personalized care plan to ensure that your loved one’s wishes are honored, making their final journey uniquely theirs. While hospice care focuses on individuals nearing the end of life, it also emphasizes living each moment with the highest quality of life.

Our holistic approach to end-of-life care surrounds your family with a network of dedicated professionals who provide physical, emotional, and spiritual support, relieving symptoms and other stressors associated with illness.

Determining When to Consider Hospice Care

When Is Hospice Appropriate?

Hospice services can provide valuable support to families well before the end of life. To qualify for hospice care, an individual must have a terminal diagnosis and a prognosis of six months or less. Both the individual and their family must agree to focus on comfort measures. Additionally, hospice care may be extended beyond six months with a physician’s recertification.

“The staff went above and beyond to make sure Dave’s final days were memorable – bringing in food from our favorite restaurant and, one day, surprising us with a car ride to get some fresh air and ice cream. Because of their support and care, Dave was able to stay at home with our family and our beloved dogs.”
