What to Expect at Otterbein’s Old-Fashioned Christmas Event

Nestled in the heart of Ottawa Hills, Otterbein Sunset House is a beautiful example of a historic building that has been lovingly preserved and decorated for the holiday season. As you walk through our campus, you’ll be transported to a time when holiday celebrations were simple and full of joy, making it the perfect setting for an Old-Fashioned Christmas.

At the Old-Fashioned Christmas event, you can expect to meet several iconic holiday figures, including the Grinch and Cindy Lou Who, performed by Laurel’s characters & Co. However, that’s just the beginning.

Along with meeting these iconic characters, Otterbein hosts Santa’s workshop, horse-drawn carriage rides through our beautifully lit campus, strolling carolers, holiday music, Christmas kids’ games, coffee and dessert food trucks, and cookie decorating.

“We encourage our residents and our neighbors in Ottawa Hills to attend this wonderful event with their friends and family,” said Tara Lloyd, director of The Woodlands at Otterbein Sunset House.

This intergenerational celebration is open to the public and offers a heartwarming opportunity for neighbors in Ottawa Hills and beyond to come together for an evening filled with community spirit, family fun, and holiday magic. “It is our sincerest hope that you’ll make this event a treasured holiday tradition for your family. We’ve lit up the campus just for you,” says Lloyd.
