Visitation Information and Guidelines

At Otterbein SeniorLife, we believe visits from family and friends are essential to the well-being and quality of life of our residents. We welcome visitors while prioritizing safety and respect for all residents.

Open Visitation and Resident Consent

General Guidelines

  • Open Visitation: Residents have the right to receive visitors of their choosing at any time, as long as visits do not infringe on the rights or privacy of other residents or compromise clinical or safety considerations.
  • Resident Choice: All visits occur with the consent of the resident. Residents may decline or end a visit at any time.
  • Respectful Environment: Please keep noise levels low and avoid disrupting other residents.

Illness and Outbreak Protocols

Health and Safety Information

  • Illness: If you have symptoms of illness (such as fever, cough, or flu-like symptoms), please postpone your visit until you are well.
  • Screening: Visitors may be asked to complete a brief health screening upon arrival.
  • Outbreak Protocols: During infectious disease outbreaks, visitation may be modified to protect residents.

Compassionate Care and Safety

Special Situations

  • Compassionate Care Visits: These visits are always allowed, even during outbreaks or emergencies. Examples include end-of-life situations or when a resident is experiencing emotional distress.
  • Safety Restrictions: Otterbein SeniorLife may limit or supervise visits if necessary for resident safety (e.g., disruptive behavior, suspected abuse, or illegal substance concerns).
