Otterbein SeniorLife is thrilled to receive the 2024 LeadingAge Ohio Aging Services Impact Award for its innovative new Otter-Delicious culinary videos. The popular live show, hosted by Otterbein SeniorLife Culinary Director Drew Allen, features one or more talented Otterbein chefs preparing meals, sharing culinary tips, and engaging with resident guests.

About Otter-Delicious
Otter-Delicious is an incredible addition to a wide array of innovative programs implemented in the last couple of years in the Otterbein communities, including restaurant-style services, hibachi grills, annual “Taste of Otterbein” events, outdoor dining programs, themed dinners, ongoing culinary exhibitions, and much more.
Allen and his team of Otterbein executive chefs have gone above and beyond in 2024 with the production of Otter-Delicious, a weekly culinary experience. The show airs live every Tuesday at 2 p.m. and is telecast on community television feeds and later accessible via a YouTube link for residents, their families, Otterbein partners (employees), and the local community.
Each episode showcases Otterbein chefs on location in their communities preparing meals, interviewing guests, and discussing the very latest in culinary tools – all in a 30-minute program designed to educate and entertain. Residents eagerly tune in get in on the fun, and they appreciate the new recipes, easy-to-follow instructions, and lively nature of the show.

Looking Ahead with Otter-Delicious
“We are always looking for new ways to engage and delight our residents,” says Allen. “This award motivates us to continue innovating and delivering exceptional dining experiences.”
Allen and the Otterbein culinary team are already brainstorming new ways to continue to improve the live shows. Future episodes may include resident cooking classes with Otterbein chefs, live broadcasts from remote locations, and the release of an end-of-season cookbook.
The Otter-Delicious culinary team has also discussed delivering a box of ingredients to interested viewers so they can cook right along with the chefs. Viewers may also be able to vote on their favorite episodes and send in ideas for future ones.
The recognition from LeadingAge Ohio has warmed hearts and fueled the Otterbein team’s passion even further to produce more creative, energizing, and entertaining episodes week after week.
