For Those Who Enjoy Staying Active

Otterbein Lebanon resident Beverly A. gravitates toward fitness activities, such as strolling on the walking track and visiting the fitness center. Her personal favorite, however, is water aerobics at the on-site indoor swimming pool.

“There are so many things to select that anybody can find their own space and what they enjoy,” she said.

Al and Marjorie I. love being part of the YMCA group, which provides fitness programming such as cardio drumming and chair yoga. “They’re helpful, they’re knowledgeable, and they always try to make it possible for you to do what you want at the time you want,” Al said.

For Those Who Enjoy Being Creative

Resident Marilyn M.’s passion is gardening, and at Otterbein, she’s been able to develop a large rose garden near her home. She loves spending her summer days tending to her flowers and enjoying the sunshine.

“Otterbein doesn’t mind that you have an interest in gardening or trains or whatever it is that you like to do,” she said. “They, in fact, encourage all of our interests. They try to help us to accomplish all of that.”

For Beverly, who has sung in choirs for most of her life, joining the Otterbein chorus helped her continue to nurture her love of music. “You don’t have to be a wonderful singer, but just enjoy it,” she said.

Resident Linda F. also enjoys gardening and creative arts, but when she wants to kick back and relax, she loves the fact that she can have customized meals delivered to her door at will.

“[It’s nice] being able to say at 5 o’clock, ‘I don’t feel like cooking. Bring me dinner.’ And they show up with my dinner, and I can modify it as I wish,” she said. “They’re wonderful at doing that.”
