Compassionate, Customized Care at Every Location
It takes a special person to be an Otterbein nurse. Here, nursing is more than a scientific and technical skill; it’s a spiritual calling answered with compassion. No matter if you’re staying at one of our six SeniorLife Communities, at one of our nine SeniorLife Neighborhoods, or receiving our professional treatment in your own home, you’ll experience the friendly, compassionate personalized care and the high nurse-to-elder ratio our staff is known for.
Our skilled nurses will provide customized long-term care to support any of your personal care needs, even if it’s just helping you with basic tasks associated with daily living. We’re here for you.
Long-term Care at our SeniorLife Neighborhoods
Our revolutionary nine SeniorLife Neighborhoods embody what is known as the “small house” model. That’s because they are home to a small number of residents, and they bear no resemblance to a hospital.
Your skilled nursing partners are available 24/7 for all of your long-term care needs, and you don’t need to go anywhere for your rehabilitation program — the therapists come to you. They utilize your “small house” for all of your therapies — for example, using the communal kitchen for your occupational therapy exercises to build up your day-to-day skills.
These truly are Small Houses … Big Difference!

Skilled Care at our SeniorLife Communities
One of the many benefits of living at our SeniorLife Communities is you gain access to skilled nursing care, if ever needed, all in the comfort of the community and people you already know. Whether you need a space to recover after a surgery or need help around the house in the future, our professional staff will be available to help you with rehabilitation, skilled care, and other long-term care services you may need.
If you’re recovering from surgery, a hospital stay, or an acute incident, Otterbein has a customized on-site therapy program for your rehabilitation needs. Speech and language therapists help you improve your communications. Occupational therapists build up your skills with day-to-day tasks. Our physical therapists treat injury or dysfunction with movement and massage.
The aim of every custom rehabilitation program is to help you become your best possible self. Rehabilitation isn’t just about your knee, or your hip, or your heart. It’s part of the big picture of you — we want you to be your healthiest, most independent, involved in life, spiritually supported, and happy.
Customized rehabilitation plans include:
- Physical therapy
- Speech and language therapy
- Occupational therapy
- Aquatic therapy (where available)
At Otterbein SeniorLife, registered nurses (RNs), licensed practical nurses (LPNs), and state tested nursing assistants staff our communities, neighborhoods, and home health teams. They manage, observe, and evaluate your care on a routine basis. They help restore your abilities or maintain your current wellness.
Each nurse is a member of an interdisciplinary team working to coordinate specialized care as prescribed by your physician. With their help, you follow an individualized and complete plan of care. Our nurses, along with all our staff at Otterbein, advocate for your wellness and dignity. You are always encouraged to meet your fullest physical, mental, social, and spiritual potential.
