New Small House at Otterbein Marblehead Now Open

Otterbein SeniorLife is currently the largest provider of an innovative skilled nursing home model that is changing the way America cares for elders and rehab guests. Our “small houses” are a unique concept designed to de-institutionalize traditional skilled nursing home care.

Otterbein is pleased to have brought this model to Ohio at our Marblehead campus 10 years ago to meet the needs of seniors for rehabilitative care. That small house, called the Jane Baker House, has been so successful and so well received that Otterbein Marblehead is pleased to announce a companion small house is now open for both long- and short-term-care nursing. The new house is called Cornerstone Cottage at Marblehead.

How Do Small Houses Work?

Small houses are not designed from a hospital approach like many nursing homes. Each small house includes:

Private suites
A large living room, dining, and kitchen area with home-cooked meals
Schedules that are up to each elder
Exceptional care in a real-home setting close to everything elders need

Otterbein operates nine small house neighborhood locations with 12 suites throughout Ohio, along with a distinctive SeniorLife Community, Otterbein Marblehead, featuring 10 suites in each of its two small houses.

Otterbein also offers 12 full-service SeniorLife communities as well as a southwestern Ohio-based home health agency and hospice.
